This October we celebrated the anniversary of the NAMI Bexar Warmline launch. Our NAMI Bexar Warmline is a free pre-crisis line that connects people to specialists who can lend a compassionate ear and/or connect them to resources in the community.
Beginning in October of 2024, we expanded our operating hours and fully staffed the program thanks to support from Bexar County ARPA funding.
With our increased operation we have made a total of 8,000 plus calls and were able to refer 2,228 individuals to resources in the community. The NAMI Bexar Warmline is an essential part of our community’s mental health network, because not everyone needs crisis support, but everyone needs someone to talk to.
“I like the NAMI Bexar Warm Line since it gives me the option to talk to someone. What I need the most sometimes is someone to talk to about what I am going through to get it out of my head.”, said one caller.
We are grateful for the ongoing support and advocacy of Senator José Menéndez, who continues to champion mental health initiatives like the Warmline in our community. We appreciate the time he took to sit with our specialists and hear directly about what we’ve learned about the mental health needs of our community.
Finally, we’d like to express our sincerest appreciation to every Warmline specialist on our team. Each of them makes a difference every day by serving on the frontlines of mental health in our community. It takes a special commitment to not only hear people out during their toughest moments but also help them through and show they are not alone.
We hope to continue to make an impact in the community for many years to come.
This year made it clear that our warmline is essential the well-being of our community. We look forward to continuing to be a resource for all who need us.
