NAMI Provider introduces mental health professionals to the unique perspectives of people with mental health conditions and their families.
Program Overview
You’ll develop enhanced empathy for their daily challenges and recognize the importance of including them in all aspects of the treatment process.

NAMI Provider is a 15-hour program of in-service training taught by a team consisting of an adult with a mental health condition, a family member and a mental health professional who is also a family member or has a mental health condition themselves.

NAMI and the Hospital Corporation of America have collaborated together to create Competent Caring: When Mental Illness Becomes a Traumatic Event, an educational video/DVD for continuing education training for health care staff. The DVD highlights the experience of a person with a mental health condition, as well as the staff response when he seeks treatment for a mental health crisis in an emergency room setting.
