NAMI-SA will also be honoring First Presbyterian Church for its commitment to Mental Health Ministry in San Antonio with our 2017 Community Partner Award. What began in 2009 as one family’s effort to minister to those impacted by mental illness has grown into a congregation finding new ways to reach out and support others in our community similarly impacted. Through sponsorship of NAMI classes and its faith-based Family Support Group hundreds of families throughout Bexar County and South Texas have been helped. In 2016, First Presbyterian provided major support for the first community wide conference on mental health and faith. The conference reached over 1,400 people from over 460 churches throughout Central and South Texas.
